Dan Reed is Facebook's Vice President of Global Media, Sports and Equity Partnerships. He leads the company’s business partnerships and strategic initiatives with millions of content creators spanning entertainment, sports, news, gaming, creators, public figures, and more. His teams help entertain and engage billions of people across Facebook’s family of apps and products by partnering closely with the world’s largest media conglomerates, the global sports industry, and the broader media ecosystem to grow their audiences and businesses by publishing content on Facebook’s platforms. In this role, Reed is also responsible for building and driving adoption of innovative digital and mobile-first media business models in collaboration with the company’s product, engineering, sales and marketing teams. Reed also leads Facebook’s efforts to equitably serve underrepresented communities in key areas of its business partnerships, including founding and driving the company’s work to provide focused, holistic support to content creators serving diverse audiences. Reed joined Facebook after 10 years at the National Basketball Association where, as President of the NBA Development League, he drove significant growth in franchise values, revenues, basketball quality and fan engagement leading to a business turnaround of the then-18-team league into a financially valuable property and a thriving talent development system for the NBA. Previously he advised and guided NBA teams to achieve record business results as a Senior Director in the NBA’s Team Marketing and Business Operations (TMBO) unit, building upon his time as a management consultant at A.T. Kearney where he advised senior business leaders in over 10 different industries. He has been named one of the “50 Most Influential People in Sports Business” and received “40 Under 40” recognition from Sports Business Journal and Crain’s New York Business, and serves on the board of Isos Acquisition. Reed holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Northwestern University and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two sons.
